Hey guys, I'm Amber!
I'm a 37 year old Mom of three kids with a huge love for rainy days at home and hot coffee...as cliché as that sounds!
I'm also a self-taught photographer currently living near New Orleans, Louisiana while traveling where needed.
My initial spark into the world of photography began at around age 10 when my mom let me use her small digital camera to cure my boredom on a summer day. I went outside and took lots of flower photos that she eventually printed out and hung in our home. I remember how her gesture of framing and hanging those photos really made me feel SO special at that age.
Later in life a friend and fellow photographer gave me my first film camera, and the spark was back!
I photographed anything and anyone I could; family members, bands, friends and their babies, birthday parties etc. Film gets pricey if you're still learning so I eventually got my first DSLR camera and continued to have fun with it while in college for a business degree.
My first real client came from the daycare I was working for at the time. The daycare owner knew I was a hobbyist photographer, and she offered me a job taking Easter photos for the kids enrolled. I was nervous, but I did it! The sessions went well and I gained my first paid client when one of the moms reached out to me for a separate session for her baby. More inquiries started to come in over time and I decided to quit college to pursue photography full time. I've always loved babies and art. Combining those two things came very natural to me and my hobby has turned into a beautiful 14 year long adventure that I'm so grateful for.
To me, pregnancy is fascinating. Birth is mind blowing. Babies are precious. Children are hilarious.
Humanity is art at it's core.
I feel in debt to God for giving me the natural ability to see the humanity around me as art through the work of photography and I hope to continue this collection of humanity through my lens for as long as I live.
